Heaven 2, Earth -2

over the last two weeks, i have had two relatives pass away. well, that isn't entirely accurate, one was a relation by marriage, but influential nonetheless.

it seems that every family has at least one tradition, and one of ours has been traveling to the Smith house on Christmas Eve (unless we were out of town ourselves). i have been so blessed to be a part of my mom's mother's family over the years. i guess we will find out at Thanksgiving what if anything we will be doing with the Smith family on Christmas Eve this year.

the more recent death occured three days ago. Mrs Virgina became my Grandma when i was five or six years old. my real grandmother died when i was very young, and looking back, it is only by God's grace and mercy that she came into my life. i could not have picked a better person to fulfill that role and i am truely thankful for that. it had been 10-12 years since i had seen any of her children or grandchildren, and it was really great catching up with all of them. growing up, i was able to have chances to spend time with her grandkids whenever her and Pa would take us camper camping (you know, during the summer when grandparents can show off ther grandkids to other old timers). i am glad for the memories that have erupted from my mind from those days and having the opportunity to reminisce and be reminded of things forgotten.

i am so thankful for my family and friends. their influence has made me the kind of person i am today.
