Positively Wretched

since last monday night, i have been battling a seasonal cold straight from the depths of Hell. after pitching two games on monday night, i woke up tuesday morning ready to cut off my head. thursday, i was teased into thinking it was about gone, but it decided to come back friday and saturday.

i even played some football yesterday in the beautiful 68-70 degree weather to get some fresh air and sunshine, but it didn't help. and let me tell ya, i was channeling vintage Brett Favre out there: 3 TD's, 0 INT's, and a rushing TD. good times.

i made it to the second service this morning hopped up on dayquil and granola; talking like barry white but not feeling very pretty. i am skipping tonight even though some friends are in town that i would really have like to have seen.

oh, and i am still not employed, gainfully or otherwise. hopefully, a phone call tomorrow will yield some positive results on that front.

what else is going on? i will be 0-6 in fantasy football after this week, i think. i can say that while i will continue to field a team, my passion is officially gone for this season. fantasy hockey is looking a little better...i tied last week, and i could very well win the week after the games last night. and in yet another sign of the upcoming apocylpse, the flaming thumbtacks (aka, the tennessee titans) won their first game this week, making them 1-5 on the year.

my dad came by last monday to help me fix a toilet that has had a problem for at least 5 years now. don't worry...there are two toilets here...i haven't been peeing and crapping on the lawn all this time. anyway, it seemed that the innards were working correctly, but something else was clearly wrong whenever you flush: the water would totally fill the bowl, and then slowly drain out. we drained the tank and removed it, and while we cleaned out the bowl, we noticed what appeared to be an obstruction. it ended up looking like one of those fiberous white napkins that you use at Logan's or something. obviously something that doesn't dissolve in water. we made a trip to get new tank screws and sealant, and all is right in the world of toilets here again.

i have also been playing Mario Party 4 for the last few days. the Sandman let me borrow it. pretty good game, will probably give it up for MP 5 in another couple of weeks.
