Wrecked By Reality

And the Chili Went BOOM!

there really hasn't been anything of significance to report in a while. i heard from a couple of potential employers, and had very high hopes on one job in particular, but the ultimate callback never happened. so, i am continuing my search for a decently fulfilling job.

to kill off some non-working stress, i have been catching up on a few movies that i have missed. these are in no particular order:

M:I3 was really good (in spite of a certain crazy couch-jumping, scientology swilling actor). lots of fast paced action, and the usual what you see may not be the actual reality type of storytelling.
X-MEN:The Last Stand was also really good. i never really read comic books as a kid, and so i am not one of the hardcore geeks when it comes to the superhero genre of movies. i enjoyed the fact that even though Bryan Singer moved on from the director's chair, the continuance of the stories told in the first two movies was really well done. and as always, it is a joy to be introduced to new characters in the x-men world.
Lucky Number Slevin ... i feel like that if i try to describe this movie, i will spoil it, so i won't. there is a little bit of everything (you have been warned), but a great story and fantastic editing make for great entertainment.
Inside Man is a Spike Lee joint. Denzel, Jodi, and Clive all attempt to protect their interests in this movie, and all with different results.
Running Scared ... Paul Walker - cool cars - Jessica Alba and the ocean + trying to recover a gun + an un-be-liev-able amount of F-Bombs = a terrible movie that was on fast fwd most of the time.
Domino ... director Tony Scott has been experimenting with different visual styles over the last few years. first, it was with the Beat The Devil short of the BMW Films series that starred Clive Owen. Then, he moved on to the Amazon film series with another short called Agent Orange. with Domino, all of those elements meet in the bounty hunter world loosely based on the life of the actual Domino Harvey, portrayed by the string bean Keira Knightly. Scott's visual style only hightens the bounty hunter environment, and makes me glad that i am not in that profession. (and i guess, to be accurate, i am not in ANY profession at the moment).

this time of year is the right time of year for a food that i like to call chili. i have eaten many kinds of chili over the years, and since i don't cook very much, i have found a really good alternative in Campbell's Chunky Chili. it comes in a microwavable bowl, and the directions say to heat on high for approximately 2 minutes since wattages of microwaves vary. i haven't had a problem with bubbling over or out until tonight. tonight, the top popped off, and the then bowl fell over like it was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald. adding insult to my injured microwave, the bowl tipped over on the door side. bad times. i opened the door of the microwave, and the microwave puked on me and on the oven top. twenty minutes later, after cleaning up a huge mess, i am heating up another bowl of chili, intently peering through the opaque glass of the microwave. this time, i am rewarded with a warm bowl of chili, crackers and shredded cheese on the side, and an eventual warm belly.

what is the deal with the Urban Rebounder? it is a freakin' trampoline! that's what i need to do...find something that i can rename to something else that sounds like an exciting new exercise product and make some dough.

yeah, that's the ticket!
