Well, today has been a pretty good day.
I met this dude named Mark up at church today. Mark is the sound engineer for the Oak Ridge Boys. I had asked him yesterday after the service if he had time to come out and try to help me solve this ground loop kind of noise we are experiencing in the church sound system. After doing some plugging and unplugging, bypassing, and having general discussion, we think it boils down to a maintenance issue. Audio contacts oxidize over time, and if the ground doesn't have a good connection, it will seek out another ground with a better connection. The more it seeks, the more noise can be generated. So, hopefully sometime this week I will go back with contact cleaner in hand and see what happens.
The other thing that we actually figured out (like most of you will care) is how to patch in one of the 1/3 octave EQ's on the digital mixer AND actually get it to work. I have been totally stumped for three months now. Of course, the manual shows you both ends, and leaves out the middle, which is really what you need. After some extrapolation, we finally got it figured out and now there is something new to play with again!
After my first season of fantasy hockey, I am the champ! In the interest of maturity, I don't really feel the need to gloat or talk any kind of smack about this season. NAH NEE NAH NEE BOO BOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Whew! Glad that's out of my system. Let's just move on.)
Tonight was the beginning of the new season of church softball. We played both games pretty good...had a few errors...scored a few runs...but still got beat both games. Our new guys did a really good job. We seemed to match up with tonight's opponent pretty well, so the rematch later in the season should be fun.
On to the birthdays! Hugh M. Hefner, Carl Perkins, Michael Learned, Peter Gammons, Hal Ketchum, Lisa Guerrero, Paulina Porizkova, Keshia Knight Pulliam, and Dennis Quaid.
Lt. Tuck Pendleton: When things are at their darkest, pal, it's a brave man that can kick back and party.
