The Title of the Post

wow. so much has happened since my last post...

Christmas has come and gone, and it was great to see all of my friends and family again. for a number of years now, my mom will find something at the house that was a part of my childhood past, wrap it up as a gift, and give it to me for Christmas. yes, it is the ultimate form of re-gifting. anyway, just when i thought all if the gifts had been handed out, mom wrestles a decently large box my way. i grab it and think, "wow, this is heavy". then an idea occurred to me, this gift was something from my childhood, and now i am fevershly trying to conjure a memory of what could be in this box. thwarted, i peel off the wrapping paper and see a small white sticker with black text that reads: "Tyco Super Road and Rail Train Set". Holy Cow! 1976 is stamped on the box. the receipts for the things that my parents bought my sister and i for Christmas that year are in the box as well. i had totally forgotten about this thing, and probably only once had i even thought about it in the last 20 years. i am not sure if it still works, but one of these days, it will get hooked up again.

my neice turned 1 on december 24, 2006. i travelled to the ATL with the parental units for Diana's birthday party. we had fun, Diana opened presents, played with the paper more than the presents, demolished her very own birthday cake, got her first taste of sugar, all the while being mildly annoyed at the teething she is experiencing. i slept on a sofa sleeper for a night. actually, no, i didn't sleep on the sofa sleeper that night...it was more like laying on wickedly uneven ground, and no mater how you try to contort, you aren't going to get any sleep.

speaking of a sleeper sofa, i have one for sale to the lowest bidder. and no, negative bids aren't allowed. in my previous post, i mentioned that i had been thinking of procuring some new furniture. so it has been written, and so it has been done. and for all of my planning, my couch is a darker tan color, and the rocker recliner is a dark green, which is ok. the couch ended up being a little longer than i needed, but it still works in the room. i called the Salvation Army to come out and pick up the sofa, the rocker, and the loveseat. they took the rocker and the loveseat, but because i had taken the sofa apart to MOVE it, they wouldn't take it, because they would have to reassemble it. i am glad the guy on the phone mentioned THAT little bit of info to me...NOT!

the man who i have known as my lifelong pastor at my church is moving on. he has faithfully served for over 30 years at his post, and it is really tough to express my gratitude for his friendship and guidance over the years. and while he isn't officially retiring, he will be serving in other areas that he has interest in, and i wish him and his family well as he embarks in this next phase of life.

the job that i had mentioned in previous posts finally came through! i am an AV tech in a hotel in the Nashville area. i started last week, and i am really enjoying it, partly because i like doing that kind of thing, and mostly because it represents positive cash flow.

i have also put together a new computer. i had bought a new case a while back, and the 300MHz that i had been running had finally had enough. or maybe it was me who had finally had enough. so i picked out a mobo + 3GHz P4 processor + 512 MB of memory, and computing life is grand once again. the only issue that needs to be resloved now is finding a quieter processor fan for this thing.
